Yateley 3-2 Henley

Yateley L1 are lying 4th in the league after today’s match, with only 3 points between them and top of the league. This position could let you believe that this has been an easy season for them but that is definitely not the case! Despite having only lost twice this season so far, every match is a battle and points are hard fought for.

The ladies faced Henley 2s on Saturday at home. The squad have been working really hard at training to make the most of the ball in the D and turn chances into goals.

Yateley started confidently and played the ball round the back at pace and worked Henley hard. An excellent team goal soon arrived, with Yateley keeping the ball in their possession and showing real patience – Nat got on the end of the ball to fire it home and make the score 1-0.

Gill made life difficult for Henley, closing them down and denying goal-scoring chances (although a rebound off the post was a lucky escape for Yateley!)

As the first-half- neared its end, an error in the Yateley defensive 25 saw a ball hit in to the D from Henley and deflect up and over Gill’s head to make the score 1-1 at half-time.
The second half saw a second Yateley goal from Nat in the opening minute after some hard work from Kealey on the right. Henley definitely upped the pressure and were determined to get a second goal. Jen was dominant in defence and frustrated their forward line consistently.

Yateley continued to apply pressure in all areas of the pitch and a hat-trick from Nat, after Caty put the pull into the D, saw Yateley take a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes to go.
Henley pulled back to 3-2 with a blistering strike from the top of the D but Yateley dug in deep and held out for a well-deserved 3 points.
