The M4s remain undefeated this season with six wins and a draw, staying at the top of the table! This week, we faced Sonning’s 5th XI away. What should have been a goal fest ended in a 2-1 win, but hey, three points are three points!

Thursday’s training had Tom stressing the importance of valuing the ball, and we did that… maybe a bit too much! We were solid and controlled, but, like Gareth Southgate’s England, clear chances were hard to find. However, we excelled at winning short corners.

The opener came from a great short corner routine between Joshua and Jacob, with Jacob firing in our first goal. Sonning equalised later in the first half... how were we supposed to spot their ninja-like forward in those blue shirts on a blue Astro in the shadows? 1-1 at halftime, and we knew we should’ve been ahead by more.

In the second half, we moved the ball well and earned more short corners. At one point, Sonning’s player made a miraculous knee save, leading to a penalty flick which needs no further mention... But Adrian Stimson made sure we didn’t regret it, scoring from another short corner to seal the win.

Man of the Match voting was close, with Addie, Josh, Sam, Pask, Henry, and Aider all in the running. Josh won with four votes. well done, Josh!
